BACKGROUND
Every year, The Boeing Company collaborates with The Live Well Collaborative and University of Cincinnati Master of Design program to conduct a Translational Research course, converting user insights into patentable prototypes. The focus of the project surrounded developing concepts that meet the way-finding needs of passengers with impairments, whether physical or cognitive.

MY  ROLE
I was the Design Research Lead Fellow, and main point of contact with the client. Along with the course professor, I planned the design and strategy that aligned with Boeing’s needs while providing research education to the students. I was responsible for further developing student concepts, sketching, rendering, prototyping, and presenting to the client for feedback and further refinement.

PROCESS
  • Developed primary research tools to interview and gather insights from flight attendants and passengers to identify gaps in understanding when way finding.

  • Visualized 100+ initial different concepts surrounding accessible way-finding solutions, and created ideation workshops to aid students in interactive learning.

  • Prototyped  and rendered solutions, teaching students about basic power tools and prototyping practices.

  • Conducted validation sessions with initial stakeholders to refine and further develop more inclusive solutions.
